We all know Star Trek Online will get a new and major expansion soon, Legacy of Romulus.

Why the updates will be implement earlier then 27 May as it was announced ?
The date has been updated to indicate the start of the changes, not necessary the end of them, so it's still accurate to say that 27 May is the date of for the new updates and it will be probably the date we will finish to implement all the new rules and management systems.
One of the most important update is that we can create a new character part of a new playable faction, the Romulan Republic.
This is a historical moment for Federation and Klingon Empire alike, and we, the 5 fleets , we all, the Deep Space Alliance must to prepare our-self to welcoming our new ally.
With this in mind we will make new changes within our fleets so we can develop even further as players and together as fleets.
Preparations
1. From 24 May - Roster update
- the players and characters who don't log in in the last 40 days will be removed.
- If you have another toon (a character) on the fleet that you didn't use it in the last 40 days we recommend you to log in with him until 27 May
2. New fleet bank slot
- the bank slot named Unwanted 2 will be renamed into Deposit and will deposit there the items which High Officers craft them, it will a reserve slot
3. Deep Space Guards fleet stand ready and fully prepare to receive 500 members
4. We create a system of guides/tutorials combined with fleet events to maximize the feel of being part of group and fleet
Updates
1.New and fresh Admirals
- if you are a Junior Officer, Sergeant or Officer from Deep Space Task Force fleet, you can become Admiral on our newest fleets: DS Squad and DS Guard
- you will lead the new fleets

2.Update the Fleet Events to cover the new Romulan events
3. We will continue update the Guides with new tutorials, video and text, for beginners and veterans, too

- go to a bank console and Deposit 7.000.000 on the Fleet Bank, in maximum 72 hours you will be promoted

- receive any recommendation on ingame email account for the Fleet Events and to track and note on the Google Docs the names of the members who earn recommendations / fleet events points

all ranks can be promoted based on alternatives requirements, you choose how you will be promoted: fc (fleet credits) or fep (fleet events points)
another alternative for all: Fleet Admirals can promote members for being very active
being very active: use Alliance chat, help others, fleet bank donations, participation on fleet events
